Peaks and Pits

My roommates and I have started a new Peaks and Pits of our day tradition. Even though the week isn’t over I’ve had several peaks and pits, life is always keeping me on my toes. I don’t think I’d want it any other way.

.

We start with pits so that we can end on a good note:

- Fraudulent charges.

- My car engine dying on the highway at night while I was alone. Major pit.

-Saying goodbye to my 96 camry for good.

- Coming down with a harsh cold.

.

Despite the bumps in the road, there were plenty more peaks:

- Mild weather. Love.

-Getting tons of work done on Sunday to set me up for a less stressful week.

- Getting 100 dollars out of the whole car fiasco. Hey, I’ll take it.

-2 awesome crossfit workouts and meeting lots of friendly people in the process.

-Picking up a few extra shifts at work.

-Being treated to coffee. Little things.

-Lots of good news from family members about jobs, houses, and other big life events :)

-Potential opportunity starting to pan out for after graduation. Fingers crossed!

-Watching the movie 50/50 with friends, crying our eyes out, and realizing that having my health is the biggest peak of all.

.

Phew! And that’s just since Monday.

Shrimp Fried “Rice”. Recipe coming soon!

.

What are your peaks and pits of the week? Do you like reflecting back on the good parts and bad parts of your day with friends and family?

What a sweet post! Your pits aren’t so fun, but I love that you ended on the peaks- and how there are so many more than pits!
SO funny, I just got sold my old camry too. It’s funny how you can get attached to cars and how many memories they hold. A peak though is a new car.
My peak is that my husband and I finalized a trip to the Caribbean in May! That is a major peak. :)
Have a great week!!

aw, camry’s are great cars aren’t they! And that’s a definite peak- congrats on that, I’ve never been to the caribbean!

I think that shrimp fried rice would definitely be a peak of my week if I had it! Pit: company meeting for the next two days. Peak: seeing an old coworker and friend tonight! :)

fraudulent charges! that sounds fun ;) Katie you are so cute! and that dish AMAZING looking – cannot believe you’re only a senior in college, you are so mature for your age! wish I’d lived like you you back when I was young ;)

My pit was tearing the skin off my finger stirring a jar of nut butter. LOL.

Love this idea! My peaks would definitely be reuniting witha cousin I haven’t seen in literally ages who happens to live in my city (had NO idea until recently.. crazy), and the fact that my boyfriend is finnnnnnally leaving the Middle East and coming home. :-) Pits would be that horrible cabbage experience ;-) I’m traumatized for life. And you’re right – good health is the greatest peak of all.

I love the “peaks and pits” theme! a.) because the Kardashians do it, and b.) because I think it’s equally as important to recognize our setbacks as it is to recognize our successes. If we didn’t, the “peaks” just wouldn’t be as sweet, right?! :) I’m sorry about your car but I’m happy to hear that the universe compensated in other ways for you this week! Keep smiling!

you blew my cover- that’s so where we got the idea for peaks and pits ;)
Thanks, I like to think pits keep us in perspective and grounded too.

Love this post and can’t wait for that recipe!!

As of now, I can’t think of any pits. Maybe that Monday-Wednesday I was lazy and am mad I didn’t do much for my health.

But at the same time, this week my dog had the time of her life at day camp (I watched her on the camera and she fell asleep the second she got home). When she is happy, I’m happy. I tried a few new killer workouts (yest and today) and I grabbed drinks with a good friend twice this week, so far!

… if only someone at work would being a king cake! haha.

what a great week! That’s so cute you can watch your dog!

Love this idea – helps to keep the pits in perspective and to really appreciate the peaks! My peak: doing a new move in my aerials class! Pit: killer migraine yesterday.

I so want to see 50/50, too. Maybe that’ll be my weekend peak :)

So sorry about the pits! At least you have more peaks though :) Fingers crossed for you!

I would love to see the recipe! it looks delicious

14 Sally Anne @ PaleoRunnerGirl February 3, 2012 at 7:26 am

I bawled all the way through 50/50. oh. my. gosh. It was SUCH a good movie. It really does make you feel so blessed to have a healthy body!

I love the idea of peaks and pits. I think it is a wonderful way to share all aspects of your life with the ones closest to you. My peak was putting an offer on a house. My pit was STILL not knowing what the sellers think of our offer. Patience is not a virtue I possess. :)

15 katie February 4, 2012 at 10:41 am

I’m crossing my fingers for you and the offer! I’ve also had no patience with a few things lately- it’s a difficult virtue isn’t it!

Oh my goodness that whole car issue sounds like a nightmare!! I’m glad you had lots of peaks to balance that out. 100 bucks and being treated to coffee would definitely help me feel a little better! I would call the shrimp fried rice a peak too. That sounds awesome!

This shrimp recipe looks so YUMMY…I looked for the link of the recipe for nearly 20 minutes until finally I read coming soon. Your killing me. LOL

Sorry to hear about your car, but all-in-all it sounds like you had a great week, Katie. I like the idea of “peaks and pits.”
