BOGO Beef

On Sunday the grocery store was a madhouse. Bags of chips were flying off the shelves like hot cakes and they were actually sold out of avocados by the time we arrived, which was only mid morning. I guess everyone had similar ideas when it came to easy party food.

.

However I was not focused on the avocados or tostitos… I was more concerned with a sale that nearly made me choking on my free cheese sample.

.

BOGO Grass Fed Beef.

.

Since we were out with a bunch of friends I refrained from piling my cart high with pounds and pounds of meat, and instead grabbed two and shed a tear.

Well you better believe I didn’t let that sale go to waste. The next day I was back, by myself this time, and was pleasantly surprised to see the sale still going on and casually picked up enough to last me until April.

.

I typically go through a pound a week in stir fries and burgers but I’d love to hear your favorite way to cook with beef. Any great recipes I should give a try? Would you have stocked up on this sale too?

ha! I love you! at least beef freezes wonderfully. Can’t wait to see some “beefed” up meals from one of my only other meat eater around these parts! ;)

Man that is a deal! That stuff is crazy expensive around here! It doesn’t keep me from buying it though ;)

Thankfully its not outrageously expensive for me or else my habit would be wiping my wallet clean by now! It’s worth the price though isn’t it?

Sweet! I would’ve done the same :-)

My favorite way to eat beef is probably tacos!

WOW!!! I am so jealous! I would have been ALL over that sale! I just made chili last night–it is probably my favorite way to eat beef! Yum!

BOGO for grass fed is an awesome deal! May I suggest using it in the mac n cheese I posted today? ;) haha shameless.

ohh the hamburger helper, duh! Must must do that.

I don’t eat beef, but when I did I always loved it in chili and spaghetti sauces. Sometimes I find myself seriously craving my dad’s spaghetti beef sauce – it’s delicious. A few days ago I stocked up on 20 packages of tempeh because it was BOGO. The gentlemen at the checkout commented on my stash of tempeh, but if you’re going to go through it before the expiration date, why not stock up?

haha yeah the lady also mentioned all my beef consumption but I took it as a compliment ;) At least is freezes well!

I’m SO jealous of this sale. I would totally have bought as much as my bank account would have allowed!

I LOVE using ground beef for a ton of stuff. Since you have well fed you should try the chocolate chili and the bora bora meatballs. They are to die for!

ohh the bora bora meatballs I want to give a try thanks for reminding me!

Favoritefavoritefavorite ground beef recipe:

Ground beef with tomato and garlic, makes leftovers for one or two people.

2 lbs ground beef (I like 1/2 grass fed and 1/2 chuck)
2 small cans tomato paste (not sauce)
1 bunch green onions with scallions, sliced n’ diced
2-4 cloves of garlic, crushed or diced
~1 T sage
butter or ghee

On medium heat in a pan with high sides, sautee onions and garlic in butter/ghee. Then add beef, sage, tomato paste and scallions in that order, each several minutes apart. Tastes best if covered when cooking and goes great with frozen chopped spinach.

Less than $20 and it’s 2-4 meals for one person.

Well, when I was eating meat when I was pregnant, I loved making a super fresh Thai-style beef salad… thinly cut beef (quite rare) with yummy Asian greens, been shoots, toasted peanuts and a dressing with soy, rice vinegar, fish sauce, lime, palm sugar, garlic – really really good + so healthy! Served over mung bean/kelp/rice noodles, you’ve got yourself a meal :)

I love stocking up on bargains!
